Hi! I'm Dr. Painter
I’m a Board Certified Veterinary Dermatologist® dedicated to transforming the lives of allergic dogs. At The Allergic Dog™, I combine my extensive clinical experience with a passion for education to empower pet owners, groomers, and veterinarians.

Allergic skin disease is one of the most common, most frustrating, and most misunderstood conditions in veterinary medicine. My mission is to change that.
As a Board Certified Veterinary Dermatologist®, I've spent my career translating complexity into clarity — building frameworks that help people understand what's actually happening with their dog's skin, and what to do about it. This platform exists because good information shouldn't stop at the specialist's door.
When I was 9 years old
My aunt's dog was the most allergic dog in the world
I can still hear Teddy scratching under the table during Holiday gatherings. He was miserable. Chewing his paws, always scratching his inflamed and infected skin. He never rested because he was just so itchy and miserable. To this day, I wish I could go back in time and help him. This is actually him (90s jeans for reference!) looking pretty good before his allergies hit.
I connect the dots
I have always been someone who likes to connect the dots. To be a good allergist, you have to have this important skill.
I think clearly and logically
Want to guess my major in college? Philosophy. There I learned to write and think logically. This helps me be a thorough, dedicated doctor.
I lead with honesty
We provide a full suite of resources so you can feel confident in the care provided, with the results to match!
"She is uniquely suited to be a dermatologist"
A colleague of mine said this, and it just felt right. Not many people choose this particular path in life. In fact, there are only about 400 of us in the world. But, I love what I do and I cannot imagine doing anything else with my time or expertise.
“I didn't know there was a dermatologist... for dogs!”
Sure is! But, there aren't many of us! There are less than 500 Board Certified Veterinary Dermatologists® in the world.

Advanced Training
After veterinary school, I completed four years of advanced training with top mentors in dermatology. I worked hard to reach this point and am grateful I found my calling.

Dedicated Practice
I currently work for the world-renowned Angell Animal Medical Center at Angell-West. I love my practice and the families I help each day. If you want to have your pet seen by me, see below!
